Breakup Recovery, the Fast-Track to Happiness

Relationships are hard. Ending a relationship is harder.

· In reality, there are two ways to recover from a breakup.

1.) The hangover approach:

You drink alcohol, eat ice cream and watch TV until 4am. Previously, your vision was to conquer the world, but now your vision is the next day.

Clearly, this isn’t the best approach in the world.

2.) The athlete’s approach:

When an athlete is injured, usually he doesn’t stay in bed for months. Instead, he consults with his coach and health professionals, and then he has enough rest while gradually doing some exercise to maintain his muscles’ strength.

So, when it comes to this approach to dealing with a breakup, you understand that pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. You acknowledge the pain; however, at the same time, you get on with your life anyway. Therefore, you have more rest and rejuvenate yourself; you read more books and get more insights; you go to the gym and become a better version of yourself.

Dita Von Teese, the most well-known burlesque dancer in the world, is a role model in this regard. She says after each breakup, she always learns a new hobby or a new craft, e.g. riding a horse. That makes her feel stronger as a result.

I highly recommend the athlete’s approach because this approach makes you a more empowered person in spite of the breakup, because of the breakup.

· Recover from the breakup by giving yourself a lot of time.

If you have to go to work every day, perhaps you even have difficulty getting up in the morning. Now here is a solution:

You can go to bed at 7pm and listen to an audio book. This will calm you down and help you fall sleep earlier. Remember to get sufficient sleep. It’s perfectly okay to wake up at 3am as long as you’ve slept enough. If you actually wake up at 3am, it’s time to do a good workout and then eat a great breakfast!

Actually, that’s Tom Bilyeu’s schedule – he goes to bed very early at night and wakes up at about 3am every morning, and then he immediately goes to the gym. If Tom Bilyeu can do that, you can do it, too!

Also, it’s okay to admit that you need some support. Asking for help actually means you are a strong man because you know what needs to be improved. Hence, if you are keen to have a one-on-one breakup recovery coaching session with me, please contact me now.
